Road-rage widow files civil lawsuit
Tamara Powell, widow of murder victim Kent Powell, has filed a civil lawsuit against his accused killer and against her and her late husband’s insurance company.
The suit was filed Wednesday in Custer County District Court. No specific amount of damages is mentioned, but the petition says the insurer has paid no uninsured motorist benefits to date.
Mr. Powell was one of two people allegedly killed by Jeremy Doss Hardy, now 37, of Pasadena, Texas, as they drove along Interstate 40 the night of Dec. 16, 2015. Powell, 45, was killed first near mile marker 95 at approximately the Bethel Road crossover east of Hydro; and Billie Jean West, 63, of Lone Wolf, was found shot to death in her car a short time later on the Exit 84 off-ramp at the east edge of Weatherford.
