Myrtle Drinnon
Funeral services for Myrtle Drinnon, 91 of Elk City, will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Community Fellowship Church in Hammon with Pastor Dolan Ivey officiating.
Mrs. Drinnon died Friday, August 22, 2014, at her daughter’s residence in Norman, She was born on Aug. 12, 1923 in Clinton, the daughter of William Levi and Jennie May (Holbrook) Hunter.
She met and married Buster (Newton Franklin) Drinnon on Nov. 4, 1941 in Moorewood. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1999.
She spent seven years as the site coordinator at the Senior Citizen Center in Hammon and also worked in the home health care industry for DHS for 28 years.
Mrs. Drinnon was a member of the Assembly of God Church where she served as the secretary for the church for 22 years.
She was the secretary for 21 years of the Red Hill Cemetery Board. She belonged to the Eastern Star and was secretary for 15 years and a Gold Star Mother.
Survivors include two sons; Franklin Drinnon and his wife, Peggy, and Bobby Drinnon and his wife, Gwen, all of Elk City; three daughters, Laura Copenbarger and her husband, Lloyd, of Villa Park, Calif., Balinda Moskowitz and her husband, Barry, of Norman, Janice Conway and her husband, Tom, of Cheyenne; five half-brothers, Cecil Moore, Bobby Moore, John Schultz, Cliff Schultz and Richard Schultz; one half-sister, Eva May Moore; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 11 great great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Buster Drinnon; a son, Bedford Drinnon; his parents, William Levi Hunter and Jennie Hunter Moore Schultz; and a brother, David Levi Hunter
Interment will be at Red Hill Cemetery in Hammonin under direction of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home of Elk City.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Red Hill Cemetery Association.
