Kyle Moore

   Funeral services for Kyle Moore, 80, of Cordell, were held Friday at the Northside Church of Christ in Cordell, with Ken Jones officiating.

   Moore died Monday, March 3, 2014, in Tucson, Ariz.

   He was born June 7, 1933, on his grandparents’ farm, east of Cordell in Washita County, the the son of George and Thelma Beatrice (Davis) Moore.

   He attended Cowden schools, where he graduated in 1951, and was an active member of the Washita County 4-H Club.

   Moore served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, where he became a watchmaker.

   On July 26, 1955, he married Pat Gregory in Cordell. He had been employed at Robson’s Jewelers in Baytown, Texas.

   Moore and his wife owned and operated Kyle’s Jewelry Store in Shattuck for several years. He formed a television cable company in Shattuck in 1956.

   The cable company expanded into Texas, Arkansas and Kansas.

   Moore worked in all aspects of the business, including climbing 600-foot towers. He was instrumental in forming a community antenna television association, which represented rural cable operators.

   He also published the community television journal in the early 1970s. He was a contributor to the Friends for Life Animal Society.

   Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Thelma Beatrice Moore, and two half-brothers.

   Survivors include his wife, Pat Moore of the home; one daughter, Trecia Harper and her husband, Jackie, of Cordell; one sister-in-law, Nelle Cox of Cordell; one brother-in-law, Van Hall and his wife, Janice, of Cordell; two grandchildren, Julie Gathers and her husband, Steve, of Cordell, and Kyle Harper, of Stillwater; two great-grandchildren, Taryn and Hunter; and a host of nieces and nephews.

   Burial followed at the family farm near Cordell, under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Home of Cordell.

   The family suggests memorial contributions in his honor be made to the Friends for Life Animal Society.
