Richard Dennis Doling
Funeral services for Richard Dennis Doling, 80, Clinton resident, were held Friday, Sept. 5, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Dan Day and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Doling died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the Grace Living Center in Clinton. He was born March 20, 1934, in El Reno, the son of Roy and Golda (Spencer) Doling.
Spending his early years in El Reno, at the age of six he was moved to Decatur, Ark., where he received his schooling and graduated from high school in 1952. He soon enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until being honorably discharged. He was married to Elva Wight in 1956 in Centertown, Ark.
Doling worked for Standard Register Printing Company and an electric company. In 1959 he began a career as a USDA inspector with the U.S. government.
He later married Valmai Evans-Schoonmaker on Jan. 8, 1979 in Wheeler, Texas. He traveled extensively with his job but settled in Clinton where he retired in 1997.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Francis Doling; a sister, Martha Glenn; a granddaughter, Sydney Phillips; and a grandson, Ethan Phillips.
He was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Oklahoma City. He had served as assistant chaplain at the Clinton Veterans Center.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Roper, and her husband, Mel Wells of Clinton, Kathy Phillips, of Springdale, Ark. and Barbara Allen and her husband, Ray, Farmington, Ark.; sons, Philip
Schoonmaker and his wife, Jean, of Pryor, and David Schoonmaker of Oklahoma City; a brother, John Doling, of Peoria, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren and special friends Jim Rodemeyer and Ann Brown of Clinton.
