Jacqueline Neighbors
Graveside services for Jacqueline Neighbors, 89, of Canute, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Canute Cemetery.
Mrs. Neighbors died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Grace Living Center in Oklahoma City. She was born April 30, 1925 in Canute, the daughter of John and Cora (Bonney) Music.
She was a graduate of the Canute Class of 1943 and worked for Lucent Technologies as a telephone operator and retired after 27 years.
Mrs. Neighbors then worked as a cafeteria worker at Capitol Hill High School for more than 15 years. In 1971, she was the first woman to take a turkey at a turkey shoot.
Survivors include her daughter, Althea D. Neighbors of Norman; a granddaughter, Brandy Brinkley and her husband, Phillip, of Norman; and a great-grandson, Grant Leon Brinkley, of Norman.
Preceding her in death were her son, Lloyd Leon Neighbors Jr.; parents, John and Cora Music; one brother; and four sisters.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Elk City Animal Shelter in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, 600 W. Country Club Blvd., Elk City, OK 73644.
