Virginia Mae Schneider
Funeral Services for Virginia Mae Schneider, 86, former Clinton businesswoman, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Clinton First Baptist Church, officiated by Doug Lewis and Terrell Mitchell.
Mrs. Schneider died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Corn Heritage Village in Corn. She was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Custer City, the daughter of Lee Cornelius and Minnie (Powers) Cornelius.
She was raised in the Independence area and graduated from Independence High School in 1946, before marrying Gene Schneider in 1948 in Clinton.
They made their home in Clinton, where she had worked for Lee Way Motor Freight, the county assessor’s office and established Virginia’s House of Hallmark Store in 1972, which she operated until 1982. The Schneiders moved to Oklahoma City for a brief time and then moved back to Clinton in 1985.
Mrs. Schneider was a member of Junior Service League, Clinton Hospital Auxiliary and Worthwhile Club
She was very proud of helping to organize the Independence Alumni Association in 1994 and serving as the association secretary for more than 10 years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gene; her parents; and a brother, Lee Don Cornelius.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Hunter, and her husband, Harold, of Clinton; a son, Phil Schneider, and his wife, Bennie Rue, of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Helen Boring, of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren, Jeff Hunter and his wife, Kim, Chris Hunter and his wife, Amanda, Aaron Hunter, and his wife, Amy, Matthew Schneider and his wife, Sarina, and Miles Schneider, and his wife, Michelle; and 10 great-grandchildren, Lynlea, Mitchell, Patrick, Blair, Craig, Reagan, Maelee, Kit, Cora and Campbell.
Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
