Funeral services for longtime Weatherford pharmacist Norval Ralph Magill, 86, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Federated Church in Weatherford, with Earl Stephenson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford.
Magill died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. He was born Nov. 4, 1928, on the family farm west of Custer City, the son of Ralph Otho and Lillie (Wilson) Magill.
He attended grade school in Arapaho.
He continued his education in Weatherford when his family moved there in 1942. He began working for Albert Eaton at Eaton Drugstore on Main Street and started his path to the pharmacy profession at Mr. Eaton’s encouragement.
Magill graduated from Weatherford High School and married Priscilla Fay Porter in 1946.
He completed his degree at Southwestern State College and finished Southwestern Pharmacy School in one of its early graduating classes in 1950.
In 1952, they moved with their son, Bruce, to Crockett, Texas, and later Diboll, Texas, where Magill managed drugstores. They lived in Diboll from 1951 to 1960, where their son, Mike, was born.
The family moved to Altus in 1960, where Magill managed Bunker Hill Drugstore.
Then, after a brief stay in Shawnee, they moved to Oklahoma City where Magill was a pharmacist at Sheen Drug on May Avenue.
The Magill family decided to return to their family and friends in Weatherford when he purchased Allen Pharmacy, located in the original Eaton Building where he began his career.
After his beloved wife, Pris, died in 1987, he established the Magill Eastside Pharmacy and operated it until his retirement in 1993.
A long-time member of the Federated Church in Weatherford, Magill served for many years on the Property Committee. He headed up the Men’s Club. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
In October of 2013, Magill was honored by the Pharmacy School for his service and example.
The family has suggested memorial contributions may be made to the Federated Church Memorial Fund.
