Russell Van Alvis
News of the death Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, of Russell Van Alvis, 82-year-old Arapaho resident, at his home has been received.
Alvis was born Nov. 2, 1932 in Geary, the son of George and Mary (Pedigo) Alvis.
Alvis was raised in the Geary and Weatherford area and graduated from Geary High School in 1950.
He went on to attend the former Southwestern State College for six years. Alvis served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1956 to 1958.
He returned to Weatherford and taught at SWSC. Alvis moved to Arapaho in 1999. On June 9, 2000, Alvis married Jackie Marts in Wheeler, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Alvis, of their home in Arapaho; one daughter, Jeanine Henson, of Arapaho; two grandsons, Roy Allen Henson and James Edward Weber; and two great-grandchildren,
Michael Henson and JayLynn Louise Weber.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.
