Gary Eugene Conkling
Funeral services for Custer City native Gary Eugene Conkling, 67, Yukon, were held Monday at United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Yukon with interment at Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas.
Conkling died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, in Oklahoma City. He was born June 17, 1947 in Custer City, the son of Ossie and Frank Conkling.
In 1970. Conkling graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in agricultural economics.
Conkling joined the Army Reserve in 1969 and attended AIT training at Fort Lewis, Wash. That same year, he married Oneida Valentine.
On Oct. 18, 1985, he married the love of his life, Linda Little Aneshansley, and moved to Yukon, where he worked in the oil and gas industry for several years and as a real estate agent for four years.
In 1989, he joined Producers Cooperative Oil Mill, working there until January of 2012, when he retired as the company’s CEO.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank Arthur and Ossie Abercrombie Conkling.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Conkling; daughter, Kimberly Conkling Brown, and her husband, Christopher, and their daughter, Keaton Elise Brown; son, Chad Arthur Conkling, and his wife, Traci, and their son, Braddock Carpenter; stepson, William Brian Aneshansley, and his wife. Shane Carpenter, and their son, Landon Aneshansley, and daughter, Claire Aneshansley; stepdaughter, Jill Aneshansley Blevins, and her husband, Jason, and their daughter, Maya Blevins, and son, Eric Blevins; his mother-in-law, Emma Lou Vogt; brother, Leon Conkling, and his wife, Susan; sister, Carol Conkling Zerby, and her husband, Earl; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that donations in Conkling’s honor be made to the Oklahoma City chapter of First Tee.
