Carolyn Melynn Yearwood
A celebration of life for Carolyn Melynn (Carter) Yearwood, 46-year-old Weatherford resident, was scheduled for 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Liberty Church, 109 W. Franklin, Weatherford, with Pastor Scott Page officiating.
Mrs. Yearwood died Friday, April 10, 2015, after a four-year battle with cancer. She was born April 20, 1968 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Roy Carter and Elnora (Wilson) Carter of Chickasha.
She was raised in Ninnekah and Chickasha and graduated from Ninnekah High School with the Class of 1986. She was baptized June 10, 1979. Carolyn was valedictorian of her eighth grade class in school, and salutatorian of her senior class at Ninnekah.
She went on to college and graduated at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Psychology in 1990.
She received her Master’s Degree in psychology at Oklahoma City University in 1994 and began social work in Norman.
In 1996, Mrs. Yearwood became a licensed professional counselor with the State of Oklahoma. After working in her field in Norman and Oklahoma City, she married Mark Yearwood in 1996 and they made their home in Weatherford, and she began workind at Red Rock Behavioral Health in Clinton, where she worked for almost 18 years.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Yearwood. of the home in Weatherford; her parents, Roy and Elnora Carter, of Chickasha; her father and mother-in-law, Max and Sue Yearwood, of Eakly; two daughters, Jessica Huckabay, and her husband, Colby, of Hydro, and Amber Webb, and her husband, Michael, of Weatherford; and five grandchildren, Ryleigh Huckabay, Channing Huckabay, Cohen Huckabay, Gage Webb and Rush Webb.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Gus and Maggie Carter, of Kinta, and Walter and Valentine Wilson, of Lane.
The family suggests donations may be made in her honor to Teen Challenge of Oklahoma, P.O. Box 270365, Oklahoma City, OK 73137.
Burial will follow at the Eakly Cemetery.
