Mary Lee Hogan

Funeral services for Mary Lee Hogan, 86, former Clinton resident, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Clinton, officiated by Rev. Billy Mucker.

Mrs. Hogan died Wednesday, April 29, 2015. She was born Feb. 25, 1929 to Rosie Lee Carr-Grant and James H. Hogan in Clinton.

At an early age she was baptized. She was raised in Clinton and attended the Clinton Excelsior School. She also attended Everglade Vocational High School in Belle Glade, Fla.

She received her nursing certification at Clinton General Hospital. Mary was in nursing and was a caregiver for the young and old all of her life.

In 1945, she married John Albert Rainge Sr. She later married Walter Lee Hill Sr.. Before leaving Clinton she worked at the T.B. Sanitarium and Clinton Regional Hospital.

She moved to Oklahoma City in 1964. During her years in Oklahoma City she married Mast Doolittle and worked as a nursing assistant and owned a child care facility. In Oklahoma City, she was employed by St. Anthony’s, Doctor General Hospital, Capital Beverage and Berry’s Barbeque.

While working at the Oklahoma VA Center she was the caregiver for her father, James Hogan, until his death. And finally she worked at the Sunbeam Senior Companion program for 10 years until her passing.

Survivors include her children, Jacci (Johnie) Bowers, Patricia Hosley, of Oklahoma City, Sherman Rainge, of Washington, D.C., Mary Rainge, Quilla Rainge-French, of Oklahoma City, Algerita (Gary) Chatman, of Newport News, Va., Walter Hill Jr., Anthony (Debbie) Rainge, Atlanta, Ga., Dorothy Rainge Satchell, Clora “Treca”(Diamond III) Farmer, and John Albert Rainge Jr., all of Oklahoma City; 34 grandchildren; 70 great- grandchildren; 27 great- great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins;, adopted children; and foster children. Also, she leaves her special companion and friend, George Briggs.

Preceding her in death were her parents; all of her siblings, Fanny Fishback, Thurman (Bo) Hogan, Velma Smith and Bernice Peterson; one granddaughter, Sheri Hosley; and one great-great-granddaughter, London Fredrick.

Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery.
