Rosa (Badillo) Ortiz

Services for Rosa (Badillo) Ortiz, 78, of Burns Flat, will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.

She died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2015, in the United Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton.

She was born Sept. 4, 1937, to Gregorio Badillo and Adela (Quintana) Badillo, in New Braunfels, Texas. She spent her early years traveling around the country with her parents, who were migrant workers. The family worked on farms and in the fields.

She married Valdemar C. Ortiz in 1953, while living in Ariz. Later in life, she made her home in the Foss and Burns Flat areas, and worked in food service and retail sales.
She was a member of the Foss Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Rudy Ortiz and Reynaldo Ortiz; and three brothers, Tom Badillo, Juan Badillo, and Jimmy Badillo.

She is survived by two daughters, Velma Powell, of Amarillo, Texas, and Belinda Ortiz, of Minneapolis, Minn.; eight sons, David Ortiz, of Dumas, Texas, Victor Ortiz, of Stillwater, Valdemar Ortiz Jr., of Oklahoma City, Robert Ortiz, of Elk City, Richard Ortiz, of Dumas, Texas, Armando Ortiz, of Elk City, and Rudolfo Ortiz, of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Maria Badillo, of Clinton, Janie Acuna, of Sentinel, Jessie Nunez, of Cushing, and Esther Badillo, of Clinton; and two brothers, Mencho Badillo, of Foss, and Gilbert Badillo, of Oklahoma City.

She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Services will be officiated by Rev. Dean Derieg. Interment will follow, at Butler Cemetery, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
