JB Couch

Funeral services will be held for JB Couch, 74, Corn resident, at 2 p.m. Friday, in the Calvary Baptist Church.

He died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, east of Cordell.

Couch was born Oct. 5, 1941, to O.T. Couch and Viola Hilda (Harder) Couch, in Cloud Chief, where he was raised. He attended school in Cloud Chief and Cordell, and graduated from Corn High School in 1959.

He began mechanic work right out of high school, and soon after opened and operated JB’s Garage.  He married Mary Anne Vogt in 1964, in Corn, where they made their home. He began a career with the Washita County road crew in 1986, and served both District I and District II until his death. He was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the retired Fire Fighters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willard Couch; two sisters-in-law, Pam Couch and Ev Couch; and his father-in-law, Herb Vogt.    

He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne, of the home; two daughters, Jena Allen and husband, Brian, of Oklahoma City, and Julie Chisum and husband, Tyler, of Hydro; his brother, Bill Couch, of Corn; and his mother-in-law, Ella Vogt, of Corn.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brittany Joyce, Bryce Allen, Derek Chisum and Toby Chisum; two great-grandchildren, Rylan Joyce and Raylee Joyce; his niece, Renee Zeller and husband, Danny, and their three sons, Rodney, Rocky and Riley, of Geronimo; and numerous other close family members and friends.  

The family has suggested those wanting make a memorial contribution may do so to the Calvary Baptist Church in Corn, or the Corn Volunteer Fire Department.

Services will be officiated by Tim Merchant.  Interment will follow in the Corn Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
