Nita Phipps
Graveside services will be held for Nita Jean Phipps, 83, of Cordell, at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lawnview Cemetery. She died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, in Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Phipps was born Nov. 15, 1932, to Austin Eugene and Verna Anita (Kirschner) Sipes, in Cordell. She was raised and attended school in Cordell, and graduated from Cordell High School in 1951. She attended college at Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, and married Robert Bruce Phipps in 1953.
In her youth, Mrs. Phipps helped chop and pull cotton, and in high school she worked at the Washita Theater. Throughout her life she worked at various jobs, including being a secretary for GMAC, a dental assistant for 20 plus years, a teller at several local banks, and most recently a file clerk for the ASCS Office.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Glenn “Sonny” Sipes and Bobby Gene Sipes; and special friend Karl Kiehn.
She is survived by daughters Lea Anne Reneau, Cordell, Paula Swinney, Village Mills, Texas; sister-in-law Wilma Sipes; grandchildren Chambrey Lauer and Eric Ratzlaff, Candi Hoefar and husband, Keith, Hillary Ramirez and husband, AJ, and Whitney Lau; great-grandchildren Grant Lauer, Hannah Lee, Jackson Lee, Jagger Lee, Karsyn Hoefar, Avery Ramirez and Bryson Ramirez; and a host of dear nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Services will be officiated by Rev Amanda Lockwood, under the direction of Musick Varner Funeral Homes of Cordell
