Jack Osben

A memorial service will be held for Jackie Lee “Jack” Osben, 61, of Cheyenne, at 1 p.m. today in the Cheyenne School Auditorium.
He died Thursday, April 12, 2018, in a fire-fighting accident at Cheyenne.
He was born Nov. 3, 1956, in Clovis, N.M. to Reed and Flo (Saunders) Osben.
In 1977 he married and started a family. Early in life he drove a tractor trailer, and also worked as a ranch hand in the Clovis, N.M. area. It was there that he developed his love for the ranching life.
Osben and his family relocated to Butler in 1988, where he continued farming and ranching. He spent several years working for the Beutler Brothers Rodeo Company of Elk City, a job that allowed him to spend time riding horses and enjoying the outdoors.
In spite of the long hours he spent working, he spent a great deal of time enjoying camping and fishing with his family.
A few years ago Osben relocated to the Cheyenne area, where he worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and was most recently employed with Roger Mills County.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Osben.
Survivors include his children, Jack D. Osben of Indianapolis, Ind., Christi Wiley and husband Ken of Commerce, Texas, and Jessica Putman and husband Gene of Elk City; Catherine Allen of Cheyenne and her children, Aaron Hammer, Albert Allen, Kellie Allen of Cheyenne and Nicole Allen of Canute; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Billy Reed Osben of Lubbock, Texas; and a host of other relatives.
Memorial donations can be made to the Jack Osben Memorial Fund, c/o Security State Bank of Cheyenne.
The service will be officiated by Randy Broadwater. Condolences may be made online at whineryfs.com
