Status ‘good’ for lady in car semi clobbered

The young woman who was injured in a serious automobile accident Friday in Clinton was Jimmie Dollins, 19, of Altus. Fortunately, she was reported Monday to be in good condition at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Ms. Dollins was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion that was struck squarely on the driver’s side by a 1998 Peterbilt semi pulling a rock-hauling trailer. Officer Travis Weatherly of the Clinton Police Department, who investigated, estimated the car was pushed northeast 150 feet before coming to rest in the outside southbound lane of U.S. Highway 183.
Capt. Mike Murley, reading from Weatherly’s report, said the semi was going north on U.S. 183, which is four lanes at that point, and the car had just exited Interstate 40 at the westbound 66-mile marker. The report indicated Ms. Dollins was intending to turn left into the southbound lanes of U.S. 183 and failed to yield from a stop sign, pulling in front of the semi.
Heather McBride, 39, of Gotebo, was driving the truck. She was not injured.
Both drivers apparently were alone in their respective vehicles.
Ms. Dollins was flown from the scene by Air Evac helicopter after being freed from the wreckage of her car by Clinton firemen and one from Bessie who happened to be driving by, apparently just after the accident which occurred at approximately 12 o’clock noon.
The car was demolished, and the truck had to be towed from the scene.
Two photographs of the wreckage taken by Clinton Daily News photographer Robert Bryan were printed in the newspaper’s Weekend edition. The one on Page 3 shows the car wreckage and the helicopter lifting off in the background with Ms. Dollins inside and firemen with their heads bowed, apparently in prayer. If so, the prayers worked.
