Robert Kupka

 

Funeral services will be held for Robert Joe Kupka, 87, Custer County farmer and rancher, at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church.
He died Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, in his Clinton home.
Kupka was born Jan. 16, 1931, to Fred and Helen (Dodder) Kupka in El Reno. He was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1949. He attended Oklahoma A&M before returning to Clinton to farm and ranch. 
On March 25, 1951, he married Lotawanna Rogers in Clinton. 
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed in El Paso, Texas. He received an honorable discharge in 1958 and then returned to farming and ranching in Clinton. 
Kupka was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He was active in the community and served on several boards, including the Clinton School Board, Midwest Farmers Coop Board, Hereford Association Board and the Custer County Excise Board.  
He served as the Custer County assessor for more than 12 years and was also a member of the American Legion. He was chosen as an American Farmer while in high school FFA.
Kupka was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Karen Fry and husband Robert of Clinton; a son, Kirk Kupka of Clinton; and a sister, Helen Louise Fry of Derby, Kan.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Marc Kupka, Maranda Soderlund, Carrie Shackelford and Ashlee Redinger; and 13 great-grandchildren. 
The service will be officiated by Pastor Chris Fields. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
