Alice Mae Whitetail
Memorial services for Alice Mae Whitetail, 71, Thomas resident, will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home, 112 S. Seventh, Clinton.
Mrs. Whitetail died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in her home in Thomas. She was born Jan. 16, 1943 in Clinton, the daughter of Charley and Nellie (Drunkard Penn) Whitetail.
She was a 1961 graduate of Thomas High School. In 1975, she graduated from Albuquerque Indian School in practical nursing.
Her nursing career started with the former Highland Park Manor in Clinton, and she worked in many hospitals, including at Weatherford, Watonga, Thomas, St. Anthony’s, the Oklahoma Indian Clinic, and briefly in Denver, Colo.
Her health slowly declined, causing her to give up her nursing career. She retired after working 17 years at Clinton Indian Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Fraser and his wife, Wendy, of Eldorado Springs, Mo., Perry Fraser and his wife, Ann, of Weatherford, Latisha Gibson and her husband, Calvin, of Thomas, Denise Poauty of Ada, Michael Paouty of Ada, Danell Rivers of Oklahoma City and baby Danell Rivers II of Hammon; a sister, Annette Dobbins and her husband, Craig, of Thomas; two adopted sisters, Bell
Jean Williams and Terry Waterman, both of Clinton; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Charley and Nellie Whitetail; a sister, Martha Rabbit; and brother, Fred Whitetail.
