Amos Byrd
Funeral services for Amos Byrd, 59, of Hammon, were held Monday afternoon at the Hammon Community Fellowship Church, with Dolan Ivey and Mona Bearshield officiating.
Byrd died early Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born July 8, 1945 in Tahlequah, the son of Joe and Annie (Langle) Byrd.
Byrd was raised in Maldrow and attended school in Butler.
He married Sharon Standingwater on Jan. 9, 1954 and was a truck driver for Roger Mills County and most recently was a security guard for the Lucky Star Casino in Clinton.
Preceding Byrd in death were both parents; two brothers, Johnny and Billy Byrd; an infant sister; a sister, Monita Martinez; and a son, Darryl Byrd.
Survivors include Sharon Byrd, of Hammon; two daughters, Brenda and Janell Byrd, both of Hammon; three adoptive daughters, Lavata Gould, of El Reno, Fiona Whiteskunk, of Hammon, and Lisa Fox, of Clinton; a son, Terry Byrd of Hammon; three adoptive sons, Wilber Bullcoming, Wilson Standingwater and Byron Byrd; three sisters, Wanda Martinez, of Cordell, Linda Byrd, of Chickasaw, and Nadine Shell, of Stilwell; a brother, Leon Byrd, of Clinton; an adoptive brother, Curtis White; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Burial was in the Hammon Indian Mennonite Cemetery, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
