Beatrice Helen Bates

Funeral services for Beatrice Helen Bates, 41, former Custer County resident, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Clinton First Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Lawrence Hart, Rev. Ronnie Starr and Rev. Gerald Panana.

There will be a traditional wake service from 7 p.m. until 12 midnight today at the Cheyenne-Arapaho Community Center.

Mrs. Bates died tragically on Thursday, Nov, 13, 2014, from asphyxiation in a house fire in Lakeside, Mont. She was born March 12, 1973 in Lawton, the daughter of Charles Cornelius Bates and Louisa Joyce (Starr) Bates.

Mrs. Bates started her young life and school in Custer City, but at about the age of 8 she was adopted Dan and Pat Meyers and lived in Prague. She graduated from Prague High School in 1991 and had made her homes in Wichita, Kan., Oklahoma City, Elk City and Arlington, Texas.

Most recently she had lived in in Lakeside, Mont., where she managed and maintained apartment complexes.

Preceding her in death were her biological parents and her adoptive father, Dan Meyers.

She was a member of the Mennonite Church.

Survivors include her adoptive mother, Pat Meyer, of Prague; sisters, Cynthia Meyers, of Prague, and Theresa Moore, of South Carolina; brothers, Ronnie Kauley and his wife, Ruth, of Elk City, Roy Bates, of Weatherford, Cornelius Bates, Fort Worth, Texas, and Stephen Meyers, Prague.

Burial will be in the Clinton Indian Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.
