Betty Thomas

 

Visitation for Betty Jean Thomas, 85, will be held from 11 a.m. until noon Monday at Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A private burial will follow.
Thomas was born March 19, 1933, in Weatherford to Eligah and Dora Bell. 
She was employed as a presser for a dry cleaner in New York for several years before returning to Clinton, where she worked as a cashier for Homeland Grocery (formerly Safeway) more than 25 years until her retirement in 1996. 
Throughout her life, Thomas was known for being personable, warm and friendly to everyone she happened to find herself with, and for having a loving and caring spirit. She was avid cook and a champion of visitation to the sick and shut-in. 
In 2008, at the age of 75, she was baptized into Christ.
Thomas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, George Lewis Thomas; her sister, Janet Murphy; and her brother, Manley Ray Bell. 
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (James) Wright; two grandsons, Jason and Brian Wright; two great-grandsons, Jalen and Branden Wright; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Wright; and a host of other family members and friends.
