Cowley “Carl” Banks Jr.
Funeral services for Cowley “Carl” Banks Jr., 66, Guymon resident, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Willow with Rev. Ben Van Vacter officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at People’s Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf.
Banks died Monday, July 7, 2014, in Guymon. He was born to Cowley and Dollie (Nowell) Banks in Elk City on Aug. 30, 1947.
He graduated from Granite High School in 1965 and received his bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Oklahoma State University in 1969.
His passion was farming, which he pursyed even while teaching vocational agriculture, which led him to his professional career in banking.
He was a 32nd degree Master Mason, member of the Willow Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough. As a teenager, he was baptized in Fresno, Calif.
On Sept. 19, 1970, he married Beverly Jean Thomas. Later in life, Carl and Jacki Lewis were married on Jan. 1, 1994.
On Jan. 1, 2014, Banks retired from People’s State Bank in Lawton.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Cowley and Dollie Banks.
Survivors include his wife, Rev. Jacki Banks, of the home; son, Clint Banks and his wife, Cindy, of Cordell; daughter, Patti Johnston and her husband, Carl, of Sweetwater; stepson, Tommy Lewis and his wife, Tiffiny, of Oklahoma City; four granddaughters, Allisson Johnston, of Edmond, Aubbri Johnston, of Sweetwater, Cloie and Carlie Banks, of Cordell; brother, H.J. Banks, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sister, Jeanie Van Vacter and her husband, Ben, of Mustang; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at the Willow Cemetery in Willow.
