Dwain Stehr
A chapel service for Dwain Stehr, 77, of Clinton, was to be held at 2 p.m. today at the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.
He died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Grace Living Center in Clinton.
Dwain Oscar Stehr was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Clinton, the son of Manuel Theodore Stehr and Mabel (Roberts) Stehr.
He was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1955.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Feb. 24, 1956, in Oklahoma City. He was trained as a diesel mechanic and was honorably discharged as an E-4 in February of 1960.
He married Sharon Lee in 1964 at Hollis and they made their there. He was employed at the Cotton Oil Mill.
He later moved back to Clinton and was married to Sharon McMullin where they made their home. He helped the Shepherd family farm and ranch and later he was employed with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation where he retired. He also worked 10 years for the City of Clinton at the Riverside Golf Course and was forced into retirement in 2006 due to failing health. He has been a resident of Altus for the past two years to be near family and had just moved back to Clinton.
He was an active and longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and in his younger years he enjoyed coon hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Albert Lenard Stehr and Norman Dale Stehr.
He is survived by four children, Michael Freeman, of Clinton, Larry Stehr, of Altus, Lisa Zepeda, and her husband, Jesse, of Altus, and Rodney Stehr of Corn; a sister, Nadine Brady, of Clinton; four grandchildren, Shara Zepeda of San Antonio, Texas, Rodney D. Reinschmidt of Kansas, Jeffery M. Reinschmidt, of Kansas and Agnes J. Seven Star, of Clinton and numerous great grandchildren.
Sevices were officiated by Rev. Gary Jones and burial followed in the Arapaho Cemetery with military honors and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
