Dortha Mae Martin

Funeral services for Dortha Mae Martin, 89, Clinton resident, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, officiated by Chaplain Dan Day.

Mrs. Martin died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. She was born in Clinton, Jan. 4, 1925, the daughter of Clarence Hayden and Abilene (Mikels) Hayden.

She was raised and attended school in Weatherford, and married Garry Archer in 1942 in Hammon.

They made their home in Butler, where they owned and operated a cream station and later owned and operated a Phillip 66 Gas  Station.

She later moved to Oklahoma City for a short time and moved back to Custer County and settled in Clinton. She was employed as a waitress at the Route 66 landmark Pop Hicks Restaurant.

She married Paul Martin in 1963 in Clinton, and they moved out west to Tucson, Ariz. where he held a civil service job. They moved back to Clinton in 1986, and her husband preceded her in death in 1992.

Mrs. Martin moved to the Yukon area for about 15 years and had been a resident of Angelwood Assisted Living Center in Clinton for the past five years.

She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and four brothers, Cecil Hayden, Archie Hayden, Orville Hayden and Percy Hayden.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Archer, and his wife, Joyce, of Clinton, and Garry Archer, and his wife, Rhonda, of Yukon; a step-daughter, Margaret White, of Sentinel; a step-son, Bill Martin, of Nacogdoches, Texas; a sister, Margaret Lepage, of Big Bear, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Western Oklahoma Christian School

Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery.
