Edward Frank Janning

Edward Frank Janning, age 57, of Clinton, passed away early Sunday morning, Aug. 3, 2014, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital, in Clinton.  

Ed was born in Clinton, Okla. on March 26, 1957 to John G. and Frances Marcella (Reilly) Janning.  Ed graduated from Clinton High School in 1975, and then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he obtained an Associate Degree in criminal justice.

He was the owner of Janning Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Clinton, which he purchased from his parents, John and Marcella Janning, in 1985.

For a time, Ed served as an officer with the Clinton Police Department and was a 20-year veteran as a volunteer firefighter of the Clinton Fire Department. Ed was very active in church activities and had previously been on a church mission to Africa.

He was an Eagle Scout and had been very active in the Boy Scouts throughout his adult life. Ed was a member of the first Oklahoma Highway Patrol Cadet Lawman Academy that graduated in June of 1974 and remained involved the organization since that time.  Ed was an avid outdoorsman and loved to share his passion for grilling and cooking with friends and family.

Ed is survived by his wife, Gayla, and a son, Tanner Janning of Clinton, and daughter, Heather Janning of Oklahoma City.

He is also survived by sisters Joyce Schimmel and her husband, Ron Schimmel, of Clinton, Linda Ulrick and her husband, Frank Ulrick, of Grapevine, Texas, and Ruth Ann Howell and her husband, Gary Howell, of Arapaho, Okla.; two brothers, John T. Janning and his wife, Chloe, of Clinton, and Larry Janning of Sherman Texas.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside services for Ed Janning will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the Anthon Cemetery (16 miles north of Clinton on U.S. Highway 183 then 2½ miles west on a county road. There will be a green sign on the right/east side of the road when you get 16 miles north of Clinton, instructing you to turn west.).
