Elizabeth Lorene Gorshing

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth Lorene Gorshing was scheduled for 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) in the Blessed Sacred Catholic Church in Thomas, officiated by Father Christian Than.  

A rosary was held Monday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel in Clinton.

Mrs. Gorshing died Friday morning, May 8, 2015, in Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born March 9, 1925 in Custer City, the daughter of J.L. and Rose (Miller) Johnson.

She was married to Chester “Shorty” Gorshing on June 4, 1949 in Anthon.

Mrs. Gorshing was raised in Custer City, graduating in 1943.  She began a career as a teller in the First National Bank of Custer City and later became the bookkeeper and retired in 1989.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, James; and another brother, Edward Johnson.

She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Thomas.

Survivors include her husband, Chester “Shorty” Gorshing, of the home; two daughters, Linda Smith, and her husband, Gary, and Kathy Luschen, and her husband, Dale, all of Yukon; and a granddaughter, Lindsey Hayes, and her husband, Daniel, of Aurora, Colo.

Burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
