Estylene Younger

(Thelma) Estylene (Touchstone) Younger crossed over to her heavenly home Jan. 16, 2014. She grew up on a farm northwest of Butler, Okla.
The first of 10 children born to Dennis and Louise Touchstone, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ella Dee Rogers, and a brother, Larry Earl Touchstone.
Survivors include husband, Sam Younger, of their Edmond home; sisters, Ethylene Venable of Jones, Okla., Ida Tackett and her husband, Bill, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Louama Shockey of Arapaho, Okla., Pam Greaham and her husband, George, of Moore, Okla., Kathy Hughes of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers, Robert James Touchstone and his wife, Dianna, of Drumright, Okla., Charles Touchstone and his wife, Sherry, of Arapaho, Okla.; 15 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Estylene moved to Oklahoma City after graduating high school, took business machine training and was employed at the offices of Meadow Gold Dairies and TG&Y as a bookkeeper.  She met her lifetime friends, Wanda Gates and Ervalene Wilcot, at these offices.
Estylene was baptized at a young age and at the 10th and Francis Church of Christ in Oklahoma City.
She was also a member at Memorial Road Church of Christ. More recently, she attended the Edmond Church of Christ. Sis (as we called her) and Sam were married almost 44 years and although they had no children of their own she helped raise her younger brothers and sisters.
She helped sisters through college, helped her niece buy her first car, sat waiting while a family member was having surgery, she would not leave their side until she knew everything was OK.
Sis would come for weekend visits back to the farm, packing a suitcase full of her famous chocolate drop and crispy oatmeal cookies. She would buy us ice cream at the country store for a treat on Saturday after scrubbing the house clean.
She made sure we had Christmas presents under the tree.  Her holiday company salad, cornbread dressing and cinnamon rolls will certainly be missed.  Sis and Sam planted their Victory Garden every year, supplying the family and neighborhood with fresh green beans, huge tomatoes and home-grown peaches.
They had a wonderful Christian life together, and they traveled to Europe and other states, visiting family members. Estylene will be dearly missed by all those that loved her, and we know that she loved us all equally as much.  The family wishes to thank her devoted doctors that cared for her; Jeffrey Asbury M.D., John Huff M.D., Chris Sholer M.D., Sam Bilal M.D. and also the staff at Canterbury and the Integris Hospice House.
The service is set for Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Edmond Church of Christ with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, in Edmond.
