Gary Prough

 

Funeral services will be held for Gary Prough, 72, of Cordell at 3 p.m. today at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell. 
Prough died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, in Oklahoma City. 
He was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Hobart to Harmon Henry and  Edith Pauline (Russell) Prough. He attended school in Gotebo and graduated in 1965. He continued his education by attending college in Okmolgee, where he studied auto parts. 
In 1966 he married Darla Dunn. 
Prough worked for DX Service Station in Cordell for several years, then for Hoffman Oil in Clinton, and later for Tri-County Oil. He then drove a truck for Smith Oil for 33 years until he retired in 2006. 
Following his retirement he helped Joe Madduxat MX Livestock with farming duties. 
On April 23, 1988, he married Lillian Smith.
Prough was a member of the New Beginnings Assembly of God, where he was saved and baptized. He loved to farm and restore old tractors. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Tate. 
Survivors include two sons, Steven Craig Prough and wife Carrie of Altus and Michael Chris Prough and wife Shelly of Piedmont; and his step-children, Jerry McConnell and wife Judy of Norman, Marty and Nathan Reed of Blanchard, and Shannon Murray and husband Mark of Norman. 
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 
Burial will conclude at Hobart Rose Cemetery.
