Glenn Allison Dickey

Funeral services for Clinton native Glenn Allison Dickey, 88 year-old Weatherford resident, were held Monday in the Weatherford First Baptist Church with Earl Stephenson officiating.

Dickey was born March 5, 1927 in Clinton, the son of J.O. Dickey, Sr. and Vera Grace (Middleton) Dickey. He died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He was raised south of Weatherford and attended Weatherford Public Schools where he graduated in 1945. On January 30, 1946, he married Melva Louise Pitzer in Wheeler, Texas, and they made their home northwest of Weatherford.

Dickey enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1946 to 1948.  He attended A & M in Stillwater for two years. They returned to Weatherford where he farmed and ranched.

Dickey served as a district director on the Deer Creek Conservation District Board in Weatherford for 30 years.

He also served as deacon in the First Baptist Church in Weatherford.  He served as director for the First National Bank in Thomas and Southwest National Bank in Weatherford since 1974.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Melva, of the home in Weatherford; two sons, Glenn Allison Dickey Jr. of Tulsa, and Dwight A. Dickey, and his wife, Mary, of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Janet Digmon, and her husband, Larry, of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, David Dickey, and his wife, Norvelle, of Oklahoma City, and Jack Dickey, and his wife, Katherine, of Weatherford; one sister, Betty Lamirand, of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; step-mother, Neoma (Ruddell) Dickey; two brothers, J.O. Dickey Jr. and Donald Dickey; and one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Dickey.

The family suggests memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the First Baptist Church Missions.
