Jimmy Williams
A celebration of life for Jimmy Williams will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Sayre First Baptist Church, officiated by Gary Baird and Andy Taylor.
On Nov. 20, 1970, Williams and two friends went for a ride in his newly acquired Camaro and were not heard from again. The car was found in Foss Lake and was retrieved from the water on Sept. 17, 2013. Williams was born March 15, 1954 in Russellville, Ark., the son of Betty Lou Gill and Lamar Carter.
Williams lived the first year of his life in Dardanelle, Ark. before moving to Sayre. His mother, Betty, married Winston Williams on June 5, 1957, and he then adopted Jimmy as his son.
Jimmy attended school at Sayre, except for his sophomore year in high school when he moved to Dardanelle.
After completing the school year, he returned to Sayre and worked at Pete Hartman’s 7th Street Grocery.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Winston and Betty Williams, and his biological father, Lamar Carter.
Survivors include his brothers, Rick Williams and his fiancée, Casey, Sayre, Gary Williams and his wife, Betty, Sayre; his sisters, Sherri Hill and her husband, Drew, Piedmont, Donna Didier and her husband, Don, Pocola, Rita Tharp and her husband, Steve, Farmington, Ark., Debbie Carter, Little Rock, Ark., Angie Hearnsberger and her husband, James, Little Rock, Ark., and Ginger Chronister and her husband, Norman, Russellville, Ark.; and his stepmother, Imogene Carter, Dardanelle, Ark.
