Johnnie Laverne Brines

A graveside service for Johnnie Laverne Brines, 101, Clinton resident, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Comanche Cemetery in Comanche, officiated by Luther Brines (brother of the deceased).

Brines was born October 15, 1913 to Robert L. and Freda (Wilkerson) Brines in Addington and died early Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, in his brother’s home in Clinton.

He was raised in various areas of Oklahoma and did his schooling around Carnegie.

In the early years he was employed by the WPA and CCC. He soon started a career with the Oklahoma State Department of Transportation Highway Construction Division in Duncan and retired in 1978 while living in Antlers.

Brines had moved to Clinton recently to be close to family. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Forest Brines; and two sisters, Minnie Souza and Jarata Barren.

Survivors include two brothers, Lester Brines, of Clinton and Eddie Brines, of Apache.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
