Lorena Church
Funeral services for Lorena Church, age 84, were held Sunday at the Second and Adams Church of Christ in Elk City, officiated by James Cudd.
Mrs. Church, a longtime Dill City resident who was living in Elk City at the time of her death, died Friday, Nov. 28, in Hobart.
Burial was in the Lawnview Cemetery at Cordell, under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service of Elk City.
Mrs. Church was born July 16, 1930, in Elk City, the daughter of Hazel Ester (Thomas) and William Lewis Morgan.
She grew up in Elk City and was raised by her uncle and aunt, Elmer (Red) and Lela Crump, after her parents passed away in 1944.
She graduated from Elk City High School in 1948 and a week later was married to Lelan Foster Church at Elk City on May 16, 1948. The day they were married they made their home southwest of Dill City, where they lived for 64 years.
Mrs. Church worked beside her husband her entire life. She was a member of the Home Community and Education Club (HCE) for more than 50 years and held every office multiple times.
She also was a member of the Second and Adams Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Hazel Morgan; husband, Lelan; son, Larry Church; son-in-law, Mike Black; a sister, Gloria McMenamy; and three brothers, Lloyd, Bill and Leo Morgan.
Survivors include three children, Lecil Church and his wife, Denice, Sentinel, Lana Black, Dill City, Lori Barnett and her husband, Bill, Sentinel; one daughter-in-law, Donna Church, Elk City; 15 grandchildren, Chad Church and his wife, Meggan, Elk City, Brad Church, Tulsa, Kaylynn Whinery and her husband, Chris, Elk City, Kyle Church and his wife, Dana, Sentinel, Leca Hoang and her husband, Joe, Stillwater, Jeremy Church and his wife, Amanda, Sentinel, Carla Sullivan and her husband, Derik, Norman, Chris Black and his wife, Britney, Dill City, Greg Black and his wife, Niki, Kingfisher, Nick Black and his wife, Kiesha, Dill City, Cody Church and his wife, Vanessa, Sentinel, Chandra Barnett, Jessi Barnett, Brance Barnett, Braxton Barnett, all of Sentinel; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
