Martina ‘Tina’ Sue Babek

Funeral mass for Martina “Tina” Sue Babek, 81, Clinton, is scheduled for 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mangum, with Father Swami officiating.
A rosary was held Tuesday at the People’s Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf.
Mrs. Babek died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, in Oklahoma City. She was born Sept. 9, 1932 in Eldorado, the daughter of Roy K. and Leona (Hutchinson) Spencer.
She married Leon Babek on Dec. 31, 1950 in Mangum, and they made their home in the Willow community all of her married life.
Besides being a farmer’s wife and homemaker, she worked at the post office in Willow, at the Mangum City Hospital as a nurse’s aide, surgical technician and in central supply until she retired.
After her husband preceded her in death in November of 2012, she moved to Clinton. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mangum.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Sue Knight, and her husband, Royce Don, of Clinton; two sons, Kenneth Larry Babek, and his wife, Frances Jean, of Sentinel, and Richard Donald Babek and Terri Drake of Elk City; four grandchildren, Brad Babek, and his wife, Debi, Chanda Shepherd and her husband, Robert, Brooke Dodd and her husband, Craig, and Kelsey Williams and her husband, Jordan; and six great grandchildren, Chaley Shepherd, Kenlee Dodd, Cheridan Shepherd, Border Dodd, Kaitlyn Babek and Creek Williams.
Burial will be at the Rock Cemetery in Granite.
