Norman Edward Lister Jr.

Funeral services for Norman Edward Lister Jr., 60, Clinton resident, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bethany Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Billy Mucker and Pastor Joe Jefferson.

Lister died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, in his Clinton home. He was born Oct. 19, 1953, to Norman Lister and Verdell Lister-Barker in Clinton.

Raised in Clinton, he graduated from high school here in 1971. Lister soon enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam era, and was honorably discharged in 1975.  He met his future bride, Leola Shelton, in Oceanside, Calif., in 1980. They married July 17, 1991, and celebrated 34 years together.

Lister worked at a variety of jobs in Memphis, Tenn., and after making his home back in Clinton, he was employed by Mars Pet Care until his death.

Preceding him in death were his father, Norman E. Lister Sr.; step-father, Elmer Barker; sister, Irene Barker Ramsey; and a brother-in-law, Oscar Heeras.

Survivors include his wife, Leola Lister, of the home; his mother, Verdell Barker, of Clinton; his daughter, Teko Dickson, of Oklahoma City; his sons, Marcus and Robert; brothers, Calvin Lister and his wife, Patricia, of Hot Springs, Ark., Mitchell Lister and his wife, Lovie, and Lonnie Lister and his wife, Cody, all of Clinton, and Melton Lister of Enid; three sisters, Valerie and her husband, Lloyd, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Arzella and Valerie Michelle of Clinton; three uncles; five aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial will be in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Kieasu-Lee Funeral Home.
