Preston August Masquelier

Graveside services for Preston August Masquelier, 80-year-old Custer City resident, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery with Lorenzo Dunford officiating.

Masquelier died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, in his home.

He was born Nov. 3, 1934 in Custer City, the son of August and Bertie Leona (Preston) Masquelier.

He was raised and attended school in Custer City, graduating with the Class of 1953.

On Sept. 7, 1953 he married Naomi May Mosburg in Cordell, and they made their home in Custer City much of their married lives.
They lived in Wichita Falls, Texas, from 1954 to 1957 while he served in the U.S. Air Force before returning to Custer City in the 1960’s.

He farmed and worked various jobs such as the Clinton Cotton Oil Mill, helped build the concrete elevators at Custer City and Rocky, worked at Mac’s farm supply and eventually trucked for 10 years.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Custer City Fire Department, P.O. Box 361, Custer City, OK 73639.

Preceding Masquelier in death were his wife, Naomi May (Mosburg) Masquelier; and sister, Gladys (Masquelier) Engel.

Survivors include his three sons, Danny Ray Masquelier, of Custer City, Preston Wayne Masquelier, and his wife, Kandace Dawn, of Fay, Ronnie Gene Masquelier, of Custer City; one sister, Star Jacobs, of Huntingdon, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Linda Sue Fergason, and her husband, Howard, of Tuttle; four granddaughters, Jessie Lyn Masquelier-Sitton, and her husband, Jeremy, of Fay, Holly Ann Masquelier, of Fay, Kendall Ray (Masquelier) Humphreys, and her husband, Blaine, of Weatherford, Staci Lane Masquelier, and her fiancé, Ryan Sweeden, of Weatherford; and one great-granddaughter Macee Jo Masquelier, of Fay.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford.
