Ruth Ann (Burgess) Collins

Funeral services for Ruth Ann (Burgess) Collins, 83, lifelong Butler area resident, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Butler Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Mike Holman.
Mrs. Collins died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, in her Butler home. She was born Nov. 19, 1930 in Butler, the daughter of Earl and Anna Sophia (Schultz) Burgess.
She was raised in Butler and graduated from Butler High school in 1948.
She was soon married to Floyd Gene Collins May 28, 1949 in Wheeler, Texas.
They made their home in the Butler area where they had farmed together for many years.
They had also done custom wheat harvesting.
She was a member of the Butler Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Gary; two great-grandchildren, John Patrick Collins and Addison Grace Willis; three brothers, Carrol Burgess, Tom Burgess and John Burgess; and four sisters, Bernice, Wilhite, Lucille Mackie Eula Mae Bailey and Alice Clayton.
Survivors include her husband, Gene, of the home; a daughter, Donna Ackley and her husband, Chuck, of Clinton; two sons, John Collins and his wife, Kim, of Sentinel, and Bob Collins and his wife, Doris, of Butler; 12+ grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family has suggested those wanting to may give a memorial contribution in her honor to the Butler Fire Department.
Burial will conclude in the Butler Cemetery, under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
