Shirley Elizabeth (Babcock) Burton

Chapel services for Shirley Elizabeth (Babcock) Burton, 88, Stafford resident, will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the chapel of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home, officiated by Buck Nicholson.

Burial will follow in the Stafford Cemetery, under the direction of Stanley Lee Funeral Home, Clinton.

Mrs. Burton died Friday, Nov. 7. 2014, at the Grace Living Center in Clinton. She was born Aug. 26, 1926 in South Lion, Mich., the daughter of Myron Edwin and Violet (Ellison) Babcock.

She was raised and attended school and college in the Montrose, Colo. area and was employed as a telephone operator with the Harrah’s Casino in State Line, Nev. While in Nevada, she married Ernest Burton on April 26, 1994.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Burton, of the home: two sons, Dale Stocks of California and Dane Stocks of Germany; four sisters: Lois Dobbins of Texas, Ginger and Marion, both of Tulsa, and Mickey of Colorado; one brother, Phil Babcock of Michigan; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Myron and Violet Babcock; her first husband, Roy Stocks; and two sons, Dan and Darrell Stocks.
