Vernon Highwalker

Funeral services will be held for Vernon Highwalker, 77, of Clinton, at 12 p.m. today (Friday) at the Concho Community Building. He died on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, in Oklahoma City.

Highwalker was born Aug. 13, 1938, to Charles and Bertha (Narconie) Highwalker, in Anadarko. He grew up in Anadarko, and was proud to have attended the Riverside Indian School there. He later moved to the Clinton/Hammon area and made it his home. He worked as a farm and ranch hand, and loved pulling pranks and spending time with his family. Highwalker was a member of the Full Gospel Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Benny and Virgil Highwalker; one sister, Coleen Highwalker; one daughter, Frances Zotigh; and three sons, Kirby, Albert and Wesley Zotigh.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Zotigh and Jonell Morris; and one brother, Frankie Highwalker, Anadarko.

Services will be officiated by Delford “Bunny” Whitecrow Jr. Interment will follow in the Hammon Indian Mennonite Cemetery in Hammon, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

An all-night wake was held on Thursday at the Concho Community Building.
