Wanda Miles
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Wanda Marie (Garman) Miles, 73, of Putnam, at the First Christian Church of Putnam
She died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, in Oklahoma City.
Miles was born Jan. 26, 1944, west of Canton, to Charley Ray Garman and Florence Katherine Marie (Bromlow) Garman. She attended Oakwood and Putnam schools and graduated from Putnam High School in 1962. She then attended Frances Tuttle VoTech where she earned an associate’s degree in dietary management.
Miles then returned to Putnam, where she worked as a cook for the café and two nursing homes.
She attended Putnam Pentecostal Church and later Putnam Christian Church. She enjoyed crafting and traveling, especially to Colorado.
Miles was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert Hanks; a sister, Marilyn Whitacre; and a nephew, Scott Allison.
Survivors include a sister, Bonnie Allison and husband, Ed; a brother, James “Jim” Garman; special nieces and nephews, Sherry Palmer and husband, David, Darren Allison, Melissa Ritchey and husband, Dale, Thomas Whitacre, and Brittney Lay and husband, Reese; great-nieces and nephews, Daniel, Megan and Miranda Ritchey, and Tucker Lay; a step-son, Calvin Pierce and wife, Tina, and their children, Joshua and Jacob Pierce; a brother-in-law, Lanny Whitacre; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The service was officiated by Pastor Dennis Adair. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Putnam.
Memorial donations in Miles’ name may be made to the Putnam Senior Citizen’s Center or to the First Christian Church of Putnam.
