Weldon Collier

Funeral services for Weldon Collier, 86, of Weatherford, will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, in the First Church of God, Clinton, Okla., officiated by Rev. Roy Dobbs. A private burial will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery at Weatherford, under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Weldon was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Clinton, Okla., to Lotan M. and Annie (Wilsey) Collier and passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, in his Weatherford, Okla. home.

Weldon was raised in Clinton where he graduated from Clinton High School in 1946.

After serving in the Army in Italy he attended a band instrument repair school in Indiana. He moved to Enid, Okla., where he worked for Penner Music Company and later for Bridge Music Company.

On Aug. 14, 1949, Weldon married Patsy Alban. They made their home in Enid until 1959 when the family moved to Clinton where he worked for Thurlow Music Company.

In 1963 they moved to Weatherford where Weldon was co-owner of Southwestern Music Company. After he left the music store he had his repair shop in his home until 2005 when he put his shop in Midwest Music where he worked until early 2013 when ill health forced his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve Collier in 1990; a son-in-law, Johnie Brunker and a sister, Betty Potter.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy, of 65 years; two daughters, Brenda Brunker, Weatherford, and Cara and husband Mike Wheeler, Binger, Okla; two sons, Martin and wife, Sharon Collier, Lamar, Mo., Eric Collier, Ada, Okla.; and a daughter-in-law, Luella, and her husband, Gordon Godfrey, Lamar, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Tonya Pitman, Tara and her husband, Patrick Williams, Jessica and her husband, Tyler Lesperance, all of Weatherford, Todd and his wife, Morgan Collier, Oklahoma City, Samantha and her husband, Joe Foster, Plano, Texas, Ryan Collier, Leavenworth, Kan., Brady Bernzott and his wife, Kasie, Binger, Okla., Bryan and his wife, Katie Bass, Sara and her husband, Hayden Laepple, and Rachel Collier, all of Lamar, Mo.; 16 great grandchildren and two on the way.

He is also survived by a brother, Morris, and his wife, Aleta Collier, Lincoln, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Aleta Switzer, Parker, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, Clinton, Okla., any animal shelter or the Russell Murray Hospice.
