Wendel Eugene Peveler
Funeral services for Wendel Eugene Peveler, 73, of Elk City, were held Monday afternoon at the Calvary Baptist Church in Elk City with pastor Brian Trull of El Reno officiating.
Peveler died Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital North in Oklahoma City. He was born Oct. 20, 1940 in Sentinel, the son of Leonard and Fannie (Willingham) Peveler.
He grew up in Sentinel, but graduated from Clinton High School in the class of 1958. After high school he served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard, 45th Infantry Division from 1962 to 1968. Peveler also served as a firefighter for the Clinton Fire Department from 1965 to 1985.
He was a member of the Moorewood Missionary Baptist Church in Leedey.
Interment was in the Sentinel Cemetery.
Survivors include his son, Samuel G. Peveler, of Pampa, Texas; his daughter, Danna J. Peveler, of Elk City; a granddaughter, Erin Michelle Peveler, of Pampa, Texas; two brothers, Billy John Peveler of Moore and Tom Peveler of Henderson, Texas.
For the last 14 years he had shared time in Elk City with close friends Phyllis Landrum and Robin Pulliam.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Arnetta Peveler; and his parents, Leonard and Fannie Peveler.
