Zillah ‘Ann’ (Dunagan) Puyear

Zillah “Ann” (Dunagan) Puyear was born Nov. 15, 1923, to Willard Paul and Zillah Maye (Richolson) Dunagan in Douglas, Kan. She passed away at the age of 91 in Weatherford Regional Hospital.

Puyear spent her childhood in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School. She then attended El Dorado Junior College where she fell in love with a young man by the name of Lowell Dewayne Puyear. They were married in 1942, and to this union they were blessed with three children, Vicki, Jo and Eric.

Through the years she moved around a lot to be near her family. She visited Eric and his family in San Diego, Calif., right after her grandson, Larry, was born, and fell in love with California.

She returned home to Kansas, packed up and moved to California. Ann became very close to Larry in the first years of his life. After Eric’s family moved back to Oklahoma she stayed in California working for Scripps Institute. After she retired from Scripps Institute of California she moved to Missouri to be close to her other grandchildren. In 2002 she moved to the Foss Lake area where she remained for the rest of her life.

Survivors include one daughter, Jo Myrick of Corder, Mo.; one son, Eric Puyear and his wife, Patty, of Foss Lake; five grandchildren, Jeff Myrick and his wife, Tina, of Higginsville, Mo., Teresa Eggleston and her husband, Sean, of Grain Valley, Mo., Ron Jorgensen of Overland Park, Kan., Lori Jorgensen of Wichita, Kan., and Larry Puyear and his wife, Lisa, of Tulsa; great-grandchildren, Amanda Fisher, Ben Myrick, Brad Myrick, Nicholas Harmes, Dalton Eggleston, Matthew Puyear, Nathan Puyear,Timothy Jorgensen; great-great-grandchildren, Silas, Nora, Owen, and Violet; one sister, Billie Lou (Dunagan) Scholler; and one niece, Catherine Scholler of Saline, Miss.

Preceding her in death were her parents and grandparents; Lowell Puyear; one daughter, Vicki (Puyear) Jorgenson and one grandson, Michael Dean Myrick.
