Pair facing multiple drug, gun charges

Two Clinton residents – Dominic Breaux, 28, and Kaylie Tucker, 25 – have both been charged with seven felonies and one misdemeanor growing out of their arrests May 9 for alleged drug and firearms infractions.
The drugs were more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and “multiple” marijuana buds, and the firearms were a .22-caliber LR long rifle and a loaded .380-caliber pistol. Besides the drugs and weapons, Clinton police also confiscated more than $5,600 from the pair at the time of their arrests. Police believe the money was from drug transactions.
Breaux and Ms. Tucker live together at 741 Santa Fe Dr. where some of the violations allegedly occurred.
This was the second time for Breaux to be arrested for similar offenses in less than a month. He also was nabbed April 14 when he was charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors. He was out on $30,000 bond in that case at the time of his latest arrest. His bond is now $100,000.
An affidavit of probable cause filed with the latest charges said that on May 9 Detective Sgt. Ray Hammans and Officer Curtis Weatherly went to the Glancy Motel at 217 Gary Blvd. to execute a warrant against Breaux. Apparently while they were waiting, they saw the couple exit a motel room and get into Ms. Tucker’s vehicle.
They approached and ordered Breaux to exit the vehicle. Before doing so, he allegedly reached toward the center console where Tucker’s purse was.
Hammans, who wrote the affidavit, said he searched the vehicle at that time, finding $5,640 in cash between the center console and the passenger seat where Breaux had been sitting.
Sergeant Hammans said he checked Ms. Tucker’s purse and found the loaded .380 pistol, along with driver’s licenses of both suspects.
In the back seat they allegedly found a backpack containing a large clear baggie of methamphetamine, later found to weigh 24.6 grams. Hammans said they also found two large glass bowls containing marijuana buds in the backpack.
The detective said he knows that type of marijuana is sold by the bud.
Also in the backpack, he said a notebook was found that had common weights of illegal drugs and purchase prices.
A set of digital scales was found in the driver’s door pocket where Ms. Tucker had been sitting. Auto records disclosed her to be the vehicle’s owner.
Next the trunk was searched, and that’s where the AR style .22LR rifle was found.
Both suspects were taken to the Clinton City Jail at that time.
Next, a search warrant was obtained for the couple’s residence on Santa Fe. It was executed the same day, and Hammans wrote that another large baggie of meth was found in a bedroom closet. It allegedly weighed 26.1 grams.
Another notebook also was found with various weights written down ranging from 1 to 28 grams and purchase prices of $60 to $550.
The following day, said Hammans, he interviewed Ms. Tucker at the Clinton Police Department. He wrote that she said neither she nor Breaux had been employed since February but he paid all their bills from drug profits.
She also allegedly admitted to using her vehicle to deliver meth at his request and said she allowed him to use it for the same purpose.
Breaux was interviewed that day and told a somewhat different story. He did allegedly admit the marijuana the officers had found was his and that he was a heavy smoker.
But, said Hammans, Breaux denied any knowledge of the methamphetamine that was found in either the vehicle or the residence. He also denied that he sold drugs.
Specific charges filed against Breaux from this incident were as follows:
• Count 1 – Trafficking in illegal drugs (24.6 grams of meth);
• Count 2 – Trafficking in illegal drugs (26.1 grams of meth);
• Count 3 – Unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute (multiple marijuana buds found in a backpack in Ms. Tucker’s vehicle);
• Count 4 – Possession of a firearm during commission of a felony (a loaded .380 pistol and an AR-style 22LR rifle);
• Count 5 – Maintaining a place for keeping/selling a controlled substance (at 741 Santa Fe Dr. in Clinton);
• Count 6 – Conspiracy (conspiring with Kaylie Tucker at 741 Santa Fe Dr. and getting her to drive him in her car to deliver drugs and to store a trafficking amount of meth in the car);
• Count 7 – Acquiring proceeds from drug activity (by allegedly keeping money known to have been derived from the purchase, sale or transport of illegal drugs;
• Count 8 – Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (the misdemeanor, by possessing two large glass bowls, a set of digital scales, and a marijuana grinder).
The charges against Ms. Tucker are essentially the same except the order of Counts 4 and 5 is reversed and Count 6 names Breaux as conspiring with her.
In the April case against Breaux, officers found only one gun, a loaded pistol under the driver’s seat. In that case Ms. Tucker said she had loaned the car to Breaux and an individual named Trenton Yadon.
Tucker has been realeased from jail on a $50,000 bond to enter drug treatment.
