“We don’t want to risk our first responders who are trying to put out a fire when there’s nothing to save,” said Galloway
After evaluating the June 26 fire that destroyed a tank battery at an oilfield saltwater disposal well near Hammon, Custer County Emergency Management Director Mike Galloway said Friday he is trying to set up training sessions at Weatherford and Elk City to lessen the danger for firefighters from that type of situation.
“We don’t want to risk our first responders who are trying to put out a fire when there’s nothing to save,” said Galloway. “Our volunteers who are basically working for free don’t need to risk their lives for something that’s already destroyed.”
