In what has become a common occurrence in meetings of the Custer County Commissioners, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and county leaders are once again at odds over money.
This time it is how to pay for a $920 touch screen monitor that controls when jail doors are opened, when inmates can flush the toilets, when the water is on, when the lights are on and the communication speakers to each individual cell.
At issue is whether to take the $920 out of the sheriff’s $16,400 maintenance and operation fund or from the jail trust fund that, according to Sheriff Bruce Peoples, has $4.2 million in it.
