WTC stages active shooter drill on campus

Holding drills to prepare for fires, tornadoes and earthquakes are commonplace in schools across the country. But as a reminder of the additional threats faced today by schools and other public buildings, Western Technology Center held a live “active shooter drill” Friday at its Burns Flat campus.
Greg Derieg, marketing communications specialist at WTC, said the school has adopted the ALICE Training Institute’s protocol for dealing with active assailants.
The organization’s acronym stands for “Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate,” and it conducts trainings throughout the U.S. for higher education institutions, K-12 schools, business, government and houses of worship.
