Sue Ella Cecil

A private memorial service for the family of Sue Ella (McCoy) Cecil, age 60, of Oklahoma City, will be held in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Cecil died Sunday, March 8, 2015, in her home. She was born Aug. 27, 1954, in Clinton, the daughter of the late Edward Herrin “Jack” and Mary Eugenia McCoy.

She graduated from Clinton High School in 1972 and attended the University of Oklahoma.

She worked as a surgical technician at Clinton Regional Hospital and later obtained her BS in nursing from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

She married and lived in Clinton, then relocated to Oklahoma City to help care for her mother.

She was an accomplished pianist who loved classical music, hymns and popular music and played at various churches including St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in the Clinton area.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Pope, of Concord, N.H.; her son, Michael Alden Cecil, of Elk City; grandchildren, Ellie, Abigail, Emma, Henry and Anna Pope, of Concord, N.H.; and her sisters, Mary Hohmann and Jane Good.

Preceding her in death were her father, Edward (Jack) McCoy; her mother, Mary Gene (Mahone) McCoy; and her sister, Nancy England.

Messages of sympathy to the family may be sent in care of eldest sister, Mary Hohmann, 4121 Corbett Dr., Del City OK 73115.

The family suggests donations in her memory may be sent through Mary Hohmann to her caregiver, Helene Hardaway.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

A memorial service for Sue Ella “Stell” (McCoy) Cecil, age 60, of Oklahoma City, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, in the Community Center of her former home at Berrywood Terrace Apartments, 4301 Bryant Ave., Oklahoma City.
