High-rise rescuers practicing their skill
Clinton firefighters were practicing a new technique Wednesday – bringing a disabled person down the ladder of their newest aerial truck acquired in 2014. The ladder will stretch out to 100 feet and can be used in various scenarios, including not only high-rise fires but rescuing people off roofs, stretching out over a body of water, etc. Pictured, left to right at the bottom, are Mark Switzer, Lt. Brett Russell and D.J. Woodall. At the top is Aaron Snider, handling a guide rope which must be used until the gurney reaches the bottom. It is only then that it can be lifted off the surface of the control mechanism. This was Woodall’s first day on the job as a Clinton Fire Department regular.
