Christmas in July festivities set
The Foss Lake Association will hold its annual salute to veterans and military personnel with “Christmas in July,” Friday and Saturday, July 13 and July 14. This popular outdoor festival, now in its 28th year, promises to be two days packed with live music, family entertainment, great food and arts and crafts booths. The weekend ends with a huge fireworks display when the sun goes down Saturday night.
Proceeds from “Christmas in July” are donated to various organizations which help veterans and active military, including the Clinton Veterans Center.
According to Clinton Veterans Center recreation director Katy Simpson, the funds given to the center by the Foss Lake Association following the Christmas in July event has been their largest donation for the past several years. The money helps fund outings and recreational activities for the center’s residents for the year.
This festival will also include the Dam Color Run for the third year, a 5K run and family fun walk that benefits both the Foss Lake Association and Project Snip and Stitch, a program which provides low cost spay and neuter services under the umbrella of Friends For Life Animal Society.
Dam Color Run organizers said they can’t guarantee late registrants will receive the same T-shirts and “swag bags” as those who have already registered, since quantities are limited, so they offered Clinton Daily News readers a $15 discount off the cost of registration. Visit active.com and enter the code CDN15 to receive the discount.
