John Ray Payne

Graveside funeral services will be held for John Ray Payne, 63, of Clinton, at 10 a.m. Friday at the Hinton Cemetery.

Payne died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at the United Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton.

He was born April 17, 1952, to Orval Ray and Junella Francis (Gabeheart) Payne, in Merced, Calif. He grew up in California and attended college in Arizona.

In 2000 he moved to Oklahoma  and began work in the automotive painting business.

Payne was preceded in death by his father; a son, John Edward Payne; a brother, Frank Payne; and grandparents Frank and Susie Gabehart and David and Mary Payne.

Survivors include his mother, June Payne of Hinton; a sister, Diane Carvalho and husband, Tony of Hinton; Three step-children, David Peters and partner Racheal Taylor and their son, David, of Clinton, Crystal Brewer of Fort Smith, Ark., and Angel McDaniel of Lavernia, Texas; his wife, Billie Jo Sanders, Clinton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be officiated by Richard Sanders under the direction of Turner Funeral Home in Hinton. Condolences may be sent to the family at turnerfuneralhomes@gmail.com.
